Job takes you different places and you come accross extreme experiences, but with each one you learn and unlearn certain things. This was a summer noon with the sun heating the base with 41 degrees. And me with the team were all out there standing in our helpdesk in front of CHM just on the banks of the famed Ulhasnadi of USA. Well USA is the acronym for Ulhasnagar Sindhi Association, a place so popular for the kind of work done. People say the technology at this place is so developed that you will find a duplicate for any damn thing in the world. They are just back by the VLSI chips ... some day they might duplicate it as well !! .. And dont be amazed to see a duplicate of yourself if u are in USA; hee hee.
Dispersing peices of paper to the students, as sales people do .. the task was humiliating for some moments .. i never expected to do such kind of a job .. but then it reminded me of a clause, someone back at college had told me. We were sitting inside the Cafeteria, and she said "kam to kam hai naa .. mujhe jhadu pocha karna pade to kya .." . Helpdesks on roads are very common, sometimes they are setup to sell bikes, sometimes Loans .. a lot of things infact. But this was the first time we tried to push security! haa haaa ...
Going back in time to those days in hyd, i rarely accepted any pamphlets from any hawker on the streets of Ameerpet. I used to ignore them. Roads remained clean every morning but by evening it was all littered with papers thrown here and there .. Software education at throw away prices .. Can you imagine a MCSE curriculum for 2500 INR. Again in my place we never used to pay any heed to those salesmen with nice makeups and leather bags in their right hands comming up to doors .. pushing the doorbell and trying to advertise their product with a hope of atleast a single product being sold. For me they were annoying at times .. so are they for those reading this. Sometimes rebuked, laughed at, humiliated yet they walk to doors to sell those peices of products on whose profits are built huge business empires. Someone very close, once told me that you need to be inside the situation inorder to understand the problems .. giving advices and solutions might be easy.
Those young crowd used to come .. stare .. smile and walk away ... and me standing in the hope to sell something under the sun, reminded by those moments when i might have walked away without paying any heed to those salesmen ... humiliating them .. and understanding the pain it takes to sell a nice product out of the production line. Being firm within to listen to these people hereafter and may be a prospective buyer in case my pockets permit, and ofcourse accept pamphlets even if i throw them away sometime later!
That was the experience of an engineer on roads.
